Sony + MS merger would be a more likely scenario. When MS pulls out of the console race they will be selling game franchises to Sony. I believe there will be no new Xbox.

Discuss people what would this do if MS the software king joined forces with Sony the console gaming/ electronics giant.

Gears of War 3 may need to go to Xbox 720, but I'm pretty sure PS3 is powerful enough to run it as well.
