The studio in scea santa monica finished God of War 2 in spring 2006, and i was under the impression that they didnt start right away on a sequel (with comments throughout 2006 from Jaffe about how they were still waiting for a greenlight from sony to start production, working on other projects, etc). I would think that a game, with predecessors with such high production values for ps2 gen, would take much longer than 3 years to full develop (especially considering creating new engines, the dev team with less ps3 programming experience). But maybe Sony is concentrating more resources to the team to help speed up development, who knows. |
what PS3 games have had 3 years of development besides perhaps MGS4?
Also, if you follow the past releases of GoW games, then March 2009 makes the most since. CoO came out a little late after the GoW2 cover said "coming soon" but it wasn't much after that. CoO had the same message about GoW3.
I'd say it definitely makes 2009.
