Well the core thing is that Sports don't fall out of popularity. Most video games, even in the professional arena aren't popular for too long (exception is Starcraft in South Korea), so really this kid basically is gonna spend alot of time focusing on one game, that could fall out of popularity in 3 years time and not be able to transfer those skills somewhere else.

Guitar hero enhances your keyboarding skill(and I mean the instrument if that's not clear) a TON. My fingers are so loose and compliant now.
Guitar hero doesn't do anything for your guitar playing though.

sorry for double post, but that is nice that you can play the piano better because of playing guitar hero. maybe this kid will get to play the piano in a church as his reward for trying to become a professional gamer.
