Gamespot at times seems to be either overly critical or lazy. Many a reviewer and game developer have cited the problem with reviewers - many times game reviewers do not finish the games they review.
Just like you can't judge a movie until the end you should not judge a game until its ending ( as a reviewer).
But in the reviewers defense it would be hard to be fair sometimes with games, in the field you'd have to set aside your prejudices.
