There was a Gamecube in a dungeon of Tales of Symphonia. A PS2 version was released later on in Japan, the Gamecube was removed. Simple.

A PS3 controller in the game is no guarantee that the game will stay exclusive.

 Plus MGS1 had a PS1 in that version, and a GC in the same place in Twin Snakes.  So that is not nearly the proof that an actual agreement would be.

Yet it would have been nice if Kojima had just been honest about it up front instead of those dubious analogies.
