Some really good choices in this thread imo, especially Tom Cruise, the Baldwins and Nicolas Cage (tombi, I couldn't agree more with what you said about his stupid facial expression).
I usually avoid movies with them except for the few ones which are good despite them (e.g. The Color of Money, The Cooler, Face/Off, Moonstruck).
I add Al Pacino to the list.
He's such a brilliant actor, but whenever the movie is done by a "weak" director (meaning a director who doesn't really direct the actors), he takes control with ridiculous overacting. Just compare his imo horrible - and ironically Oscar winning - performance in Scent of a Woman to great performances like in The Godfather, Heat or Serpico. There's a thin line between giving 100% (Scarface) and overacting (Glengarry Glenn Ross), and - in contrast to other great actors of his generation like Robert de Niro, Harvey Keitel or Robert Duvall - Pacino doesn't always recognize this line.
Overacting became a problem for Nicholson in recent years, as well - but he did it only in a few unimportant cases (Anger Management, for example) and to a much lesser extent. I still love to see old Jack as it seems his self-mockery is still in function.
