It would be extremely stupid to say it wouldn't have made a difference. Had the 360 come equipped with HD-DVD, it would have made a significant impact on the format.
However, when the cost of HD-DVD, at the time of the release of Xbox 360 is factored in, the console itself would've cost a hell of alot more, and this in turn would effect sales of the console itself.
Microsoft wouldn't have 'crushed' Blu-ray. But they'd have a significant lead, and the format almost definetly would have been still competing in the format war as of today.
