Considering we are talking in light of US sales and NPD here: NPD Record Dec 2007 Xbox 360: 1.26 million http://www.gamespot.com/news/6184847.html NPD Record Nov 2007 Xbox 360: 770,000 PlayStation 3: 466,000 http://www.thesimexchange.com/blogpost.php?post_id=455 Xbox 360 2,030,000 PS3 1,262,000 =~800K+ 360 Good times indeed. PS3 doesn't even have a chance this fall if it remains at the same price point while MS does serious undercutting. Last year will look like a joke. Considering MS now has a full year of fiscal profit behind them unlike Sony I see no reason to keep the pressure on. In the last 12 months in the US the 360 has only gained share not lost and yes you do have to factor the key holday season.

That's nice, but it doesn't matter if Microsoft outsells in America this year if it is getting owned worldwide. Thanks to the American dollar, Europe has the most potential for profit.
Microsoft can't cut the prices any lower in Europe and Japan is basically a non-factor for them. A price cut would help, but it won't be enough to push them past worldwide.
By the way, 360 used to dominate NPD every month over PS3, after the last holiday season that all changed. Don't expect things to go back the way they were so fast.
