Very low budget... not very popular. I loved it though... despite the fact that all the characters were stupid and the story sucked... and the upgrade system sucked.

Valkrie Chronicles seems to use the same system but upgraded. I doubt it's a coincidence.

Only thing "worse" so far is Future Tactics had destructable enviroments.  It also had some kickass music so we'll see how Valkria stands up.
