| Spankey said: What was the storyline in Loadrunner? Ghost's n Goblins? Gauntlet? not having a storyline never hurt those games' popularity. Besides, the game isn't even released yet. Who's to say there's no story? Just because there's a level creator bundled with games like Starcraft didn't make the user content any less downloaded either. So i have to ask why all the hate for a game that hasn't even been released yet? |
Not sure about Lode Runner and Gauntlet.
Ghosts & Goblins you were saving a princess though.
Loderunner is a fun example though since it was infact a 2-D Platformer that let you create your own levels.
While I don't agree it needs a story (And i thought the 50 levels shipped with the game were supposed to have at least one...)
I think there is a point in that all your examples were from the NES. Since the SNES or so... people expect a story... even if it's a stupid one.
Though there were plenty of these type of games released without a story.
