This entire thread is ridiculous. Of course graphics will improve next generation. We'll probably see 4 or 8 core chips running at 4+ ghz, 1GB or more of RAM, native 1080p for every game, and video cards capable of running 1080p textures at 60fps. We'll also see some sort of storage format come to popularity that will hold all of this data.
Anyone who believes in "future-proofing" technology is either completely naive or hasn't been around the industry long enough to realize how much of a joke it is.
