Don't forget that the Georgians also tried that forced unification thingy with South Ossetia.

That isn't okay either, is it ? :p

South Ossetia is part of Georgia... not it's own country.

Oh. But I thought it'd be important what the people think :P

Think of Yugoslavia. History is repeating itself in some way.

Not at all. There were two very big differences.

1) No genocide.

2) The country intervening wasn't the country who intentionally stirred things up in the first place.

Russia being the ones who are causing the problem have no right to be the ones to deliver the solution.

That's like letting a criminal be his own judge.

Of course it doesn't repeat itself 1:1.

But the core problem is the same, several different ethnics searching for independence and a state which is slowly falling apart. The conflict has always been there, just like in Yugoslavia. You can't tell me  Saakashvili thought he could just move in there, bomb some buildings, kill some russian soldiers and yeah, Georgia unified.

But it's no secret that Russia was only waiting for this to happen. As I said, they probably just wanted to demonstrate that we won't do shit to help in such a conflict.
