Really though... do some more international study on the issue. I mean you didn't even know that like 70% of the population are ethinic ossetians claiming they were russians. It's harder but a lot more rewarding then jumping on one side or the other based on preconceived bias.
Which is all that could explain your support of this despite the fact they have much less claim then Kosovo who you thought should stay with Serbia.
