I never said or suggested otherwise. XBLA in particular has been extremely successful with new IP, between mega-hits like Braid, Geometry Wars, and Undertow, as well as lesser-known (but still great) games like Cloning Clyde and Wik: Fable of Souls. But there's a big difference between a $10 downloadable game and a $40-$60 full retail title, and the Wii has both HD consoles beat in the latter category.

Yeah, the $10 game is more easily accessible to new developers.

True, but on the other hand, the full retail title is usually more fully-featured, fleshed-out, longer, and has higher production values in terms of graphics and sound.

@ Barozi: It's interesting to note how all of those games fall easily into already-established, popular genres. They may be new IP, but they were hardly risky to develop and publish.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
