"NAFTA that started this economic recession (I guess we can call it that) or at least contributed greatly toward it."
I was unaware that NAFTA contributed to the "recession." If memory serves me correct, and it does, the US economy steadfastly improved after NAFTA was passed. The CPI increased at low levels, unemployment levels were historically low, and productivity gains were high. It seems as if the economy has done well and that NAFTA has actually contributed to economic growth.
