1- The whole topic of why the PS3 won't sell as long as the PS2 has been beaten to death. Through a combination of price, bad PR tainting their brand image, and a lack of casual games the PS3 has isolated itself into a core niche that the PS and PS2 never did. Both appealed to a far broader audience and those casuals are the ones who buy discounted systems years after the core gamers move on the next model. It's all well and nice to say that 3 years from now Sony can start grabbing the casuals but they aren't the type to be multiple console owners and the Wii is snatching them all up now.
I could go on but I have a feeling most of this is falling on deaf ears anyway.
2- I wasn't "talking trash" about the PS3. I don't currently own a PS3, you're right. But I fully intend to own one before year's end as soon as I get my other financial obligations in order, I was even planning on getting the MGS bundle much earlier but stuff piled up and priorities shifted temporarily.
Resistance 2 and WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 (PS3) are two of my most highly anticipated titles this year infact. Even GH:WT I plan on picking up the PS3 version instead of the Wii version. But just because I plan on picking up a PS3 doesn't mean I can't see the plain fact that my tastes as a core gamer don't match those of the mass market. The PS3 is very appealing to me but there are numerous reasons (a few listed above) that the vast majority of the PS2 casual userbase won't upgrade to the PS3.
