Too Human could never approach the hype enjoyed by Haze. The reason Haze got so much hype was, because it was filling an empty void. Both the volume void, and the quality void. The PS3 had two notable exclusive titles in the first six months of the year Prologue basically a extended demo, and Metal Gear Solid. Any member of the I sold my soul to Sony club had no choice but to include the title front and center.

The reasoning was sound listing off two exclusive titles sounds remarkably hollow. Remember three is a crowd, and it is more psychologically fulfilling. So they were going to include Haze regardless. Every member of the Sony defense forces arguing a quantity or quality debate was going to swing Haze about their head like a mace. They just couldn't win with just two games. More to the point Haze was the only hope to fill a festering need for anything to match Halo, Bioshock, or Gears.

That was the second problem if you are a PS3 booster you have nothing to use as leverage in these debates. How can you defend your console against the likes of these critically acclaimed titles with timed exclusive Unreal Tournament, and a launch title that could not break into AAA status. You couldn't so for them Haze was a promised messiah. The answer to their prayers. To be fair it is easy to see why they had the hope. Especially when you know it was perhaps the only chance for the PS3 to crawl into the shooter race. With Gears and Halo coming it is going to be a very tall order to do that now.

Too Human could never approach that level of hype, because it was never that needed. Even worse the gamers were well educated about the game. The game was not hidden from view. So unless you willfully lived under a rock you had a basic understanding for what this game was months ago. What have there been half a dozen developer diaries, followed by dozens of interviews. We perhaps have known more about this game then any game released in the last year.

So how can one be hyped out of ignorance. Those that are excited about the game are really excited by the design choices. Would you call it hype or passion then. Would we say someone who enjoys Grand Theft Auto 4 is succumbing to hype, or would we say they really enjoy the game?
