Indeed - a more "fair" comparison would be Gran Turismo or Halo going multiplatform. The thing is, Sony has been the lead from the moment they debuted all the way until recently (PS3), so the PS brand has been identified by nearly every big non-Nintendo, non-Halo game franchises - FF, MGS, GTA, even KH. Sony has relied so much on third parties for the PS2, that a failure like the PS3 hurts much more than it otherwise would, as all "Sony" games appear to be leaving the system. That's why I feel it's a good thing they're putting more money into 1st/2nd party efforts, because they need to be able to stand up on their own legs to be able to hold up against Nintendo (monster 1st party) / Microsoft (money = power over 3rd parties).
