I'll give my kids a history lesson on every holiday, and show them Wikipedia. And every day tell them how many holidays it is all over the world. Today is Independence Day in Chad, and the day we celebrate the Roman Catholic feast of Saint Attracta, who defeated a dragon that was killing farmers' livestock, and she had healing powers. It's also the birthday of BOB 1 from DEVO, Steve Wozniak, Jerry Falwell, and my wife. Today is also the anniversary of the 2003 heatwave that killed 144 people in Paris, and the anniversary of the last U.S. ground combat troops leaving Vietnam. And Babe Ruth hit his 500th home run today (in Cleveland in 1929), and the Weimar Republic adopted their Constitution!

There's a million reasons to celebrate every day without bringing the Jesus into it. One religious one we might keep is Pancake Day. Actually, we might celebrate some weirder religious holidays nobody's ever heard of just for fun. I don't know yet.
