The price tag just got better and there is also the iTouch without any contract requirement. Nevertheless thats not the problem anyway. Phones are a bigger market than portable gaming consoles and its very likely that iPhone+iTouch will be able to rival PSP or DS sales pretty soon. So neither the price tag nor the contract requirements are a problem. The biggest mitigating factor is that DS or PSP are bought for gaming so people will buy more games for them.
