I can almost promise you that if the game got a metacritic of 90+ it would sell very well. This gen, things seem to be like that.
However, BD and Eternal Sonata sales aren't crappy just because they are JRPG. They were only decently reviewed.
GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
