True Communism was re-dubbed Marxism, as it was a lot more convenient than referring to what we call Communism now as "Socialist Dictatorship", "Socialistic Fascism", and so forth. The Marxist ideal goes far beyond normal human capacity on a large scale, however; it requires that all participants be active and responsible. This is very possible in communities of 100 or less; everybody knows everybody else well enough to be unable to pull the whole "I'm the leader now" gig. But on a scale larger than an extended neighborhood, true Communism is impossible due to a combination of inherent human laziness, unfamiliarity with fellow participants, and lust for power.
