Alas it's not quite as good as that. The power isn't on angle, it's on timing. It's just a fancy way of waiting for a power bar to fill, except you don't even get to see the power bar.
Your start pulling back the Wiimote. No matter what angle you stop it at, Tiger keeps swinging back until you move the Wiimote forward again. The power is calculated by how far Tiger moves back his club in the time it took you to do your swing, even if it's a tiny movement if it's slow enough you'll do full power.
That's right. When I said 90% backswing I was referring to Tiger's backswing. The only thing you control on the backswing is draw or fade. That makes you want to time your backswing with Tiger's so that you can control it without looking at the screen. That's why i think it makes you want to swing better.
There are issues of course. I would prefer perhaps that my backswing was counted but than you could stop your arm for 5 seconds in the the air and than you would achieve full power anyway just by downswinging it. you don't stop your movement in the middle in real golf.
I'm not a golfer and just started using golf games with wii, but perhaps a mix of both would be better. your backswing should count, but timing also. it's easy to calculate what is the time needed for the complete swing movement and the game should count your position and the time it took you from starting the backswing to the downswing for the power. say 60% your backswing, 30% time, 10% the downswing
