There is a lot of potential for the PSP/PS3 connectivity but it will never be used ...
The GBA and Gamecube offered a lot of potential interaction and yet failed for a couple of really key reasons:
- Too few people owned a Gameboy Advance and a Gamecube to take advantage of this
- It was too complicated and expensive to connect the two systems
Both the PSP/PS3 and DS/Wii have eliminated the second concern being that they are wireless out of the box, but the first one is still a big problem for both (and I suspect will be a worse problem for Sony). Until there are 20 Million people with the console and handheld I don't expect many third party developers will look into using the two systems together; this is a barrier that will take a long time for any company to meet.
