Exactly, just like Viva Pinata sold tons of 360's to non-xbox demographics...oh wait

The difference is, even before the Wii launch we had the stampedes and long queues at E3 06 as an indicator and the a couple months before the launch we had the mainstream media talking about it in the news and raising awareness about it while also educating the customers about what it was and why they should want it. Is any of that true for LBP outside of a hardcore elite?
That is LBP's biggest hurdle; the game looks like it will be very good but also very hard to convey to a non-gaming audience which is why it is unlikely to be a system seller and even if it is it would more likely be a small initial spike followed by slightly raised console sales for a long time as the more "casual" gamers hear about it via word of mouth.
Hopefully Sony can deliver on the marketing side because it looks like MM is delivering on the game side.
