Not a chance in hell.

I didn't like the first one and it's safe bet the second one is going to be pretty similar to the first: uninspired.

Thread meltdown in 3..., 2..., 1...

now now DMJ, there's no need for a meltdown. Twesterm has obviously just been watching completely different videos than us. Ones that make it look like no improvements were made. Perhaps he was just watching R1 videos by mistake, there are a million different explanations.

I haven't been watching any of the videos.  That's generally what comes with not caring about a game.

You cant criticise a game you know nothing about, did you even watch the E3 demo?

Oh yeah, 1st day for me

All I need to know is I hated the first one.  I'm sure it will improve on some of the things I didn't like, but I'm sure these things will still be present:

  1. Generic gameplay
  2. Generic art style
  3. I'm not a huge FPS fan so a run of the mill one sure isn't going to interest me
  4. I don't care about multiplayer so 60 person online doesn't do anything for me
  5. Cool idea (WWII meets aliens) but executed poorly

So yeah, while those first two I could be wrong, points 3 and 4 pretty much seal the deal for me.  I generally don't give a crap about FPS games unless they're some amazing game and then I'll at least try them.

I did try Resistance when it first came out just because a friend had it and a PS3 and I wasn't in any way impressed.  It was buggy, the AI was pretty stupid, it just felt rushed, the story was blah, the enemies were boring, the combat wasn't anything special, and it just didn't do anything to set it apart from any other FPS.

I'm sure Resistance 2 will fix those bugs and rushed feeling since it won't be a launch game but I'm assuming it's still going to have a lot of the problems I had with the first game there.  When you make a sequel you don't try to appeal to a new audience, you try to appeal to the people that already like the game.  So why would they change the weapons, combat, art, ect?
