@munkeh... It was about a 2 week turnaround. From the day I called MS. Another interesting observation: The DVD drive is MUCH quieter than the last one... I still don't understand how it could have been JUST manufactured and it doesn't have an HDMI port, though. I wonder what motherboard it is...

Havent they developed a new motherboard designed to fit in the old xbox 360s?

I believe it is the "Opus" motherboard.  It is a die-shrunk CPU and no HDMI but I believe the GPU is still 90nm.  I don't see how this is "new" since the shrunk CPU has been around for a while, but it recently turned up on IGN with the title "Opus Motherboard Spotted" and was specifically talking abou the new board as a retrofit.  What I CAN'T figure out is why I have a June, 2008 serial number device and it doesn't have HDMI.  This one was sealed up nice and neat with little plastic protectors and had a plastic cover installed where the hard drive would go.  From that, I assumed it was probably a brand new "arcade" model.  1 of my previous 5 units was also clearly new but the others were all clearly refurbs as they were much older serial numbers.  At this point, I don't think even MS knows how many variations they have in the wild.
