It's lot like buying a cellphone these days. Sure the phone may be able to text message, browse the internet, check your email, manage your daily appointments, play games, and iron your pants but some people just need it to make phone calls and that's it.
That doesn't mean that they're wrong to not use all those features, it's simply that they don't feel they have a need for them. Nothing is set in stone though, someone who buys a phone just to make calls may try text messaging or phone games just as someone who buys a PS3 might try the games or Bluray movies and decide that those are useful/fun.
