When I say future-proof, I mean able to play the games that will be release in the future, not in comparison to other computers as I stated in the post. Don't people read?

again, my non-gaming laptop has that many ram and I can't even play games on it, how do you even manage to play video game today???

an extremely dumb question to ask about ram, when the most important part is the video-card. If you are going to cheap out on ram itself... don't play PC games.. Get a console, it's cheaper in the long run.

And again, I said this isn't about comparing my computer to other computers but how long it'll be able to play newer release games. And again, this is what I mean by "future proof" as stated in my first and subsequent post. And again, since you're obviously not a PC gamer, how would you know what's enough and what's not?

I'm fully aware about the other components of my PC, such as a video card but I can upgrade my video card, but not my RAM. Don't you read? And where do you get off telling people what platforms to play their games on? You think I play games on my PC and not consoles because of money constraints?

@Cougarman, unfortunately, I can't. Well, it'll be somewhat difficult for this PC.

Edit-

@ssj12-DDR2

I'm just looking for an time estimate here, not how my computer isn't future-proof. I use one word in quotations and people automatically get stuck on it.

1. You can upgrade your videocard but you can't upgrade your ram? Wow, that's a shocker to me. Please explain to me since I'm suuuch a newbie.

2. Again, if i can't even play video game on my XPS gaming laptop, what makes you think you can with 2GB of ram? And like I said, if you can't afford to buy more ram, then you certainly can't afford to buy better video card.. time to just go for console.

1. In the first post of the thread:

My mobo can only support 2GB max so I was wondering how long till my PC is unable to play newly released games? A year? 2? I can't get a new computer as I bought this one last.

2. I don't know what you have in your XPS or why you can't game with it. I just know I can play modern games with mine and the reason why I started this thread was to asked how long till that will last. The rest of your post is already answered. What an irritating person you are.

again, I don't know what motherboard you have... but if it only support 2GB, it's probably not good enough. get a new mobo if you want any kind of "future-proof"

I've already answered that question when Cougarman asked me. With this PC, it'll be difficult to do so. Why did you think I ask this question about RAM in the first place? And already, I explained what I meant by saying "future proof" so why do you keep getting hang up on that word?
