Obviously JRPG's will sell well in Japan. I only count the US and European countries. The West is the only thing that matters to me. What happens in Japan regarding sales means nothing to me.

Actually the last tales game sold more in the U.S than Japan, the last star ocean the same, and pokemon sells millions everywhere. As for dragon quest the last in the series sold about 1mln in terms of Western sales in the west so I would also consider that more of a mainstream Jrpg. Especially when its the 3rd best selling Jrpg series after final fantasy, and after pokemon.

@Onyxmeth Sorry, some sites refer to it as an action game others refer to it as a hacknslash rpg. I guess it could be considered both but it does play more like an action game, but that is basically what Arpgs are. Action games with rpg elements.
