Seems to me like there's a lot of spin going on in those optimistic reports.

 

 

16.3? That's way below the official DVD consortium numbers... Ah i see also it would be 2 years vs 3. DVD started 2 quarter into the year just like Blu-ray did.

DVD sales exploded... from that time Nielson got 16.3 total DVD sales rose to over 80 million at this time from the official numbers. I'll see if i can dig them up again.

I was going to post something to (part of) that effect, but I was afraid to be called a HD-DVD supporter again.

 

I don't get why people are pushing drive adoption over disc adoption when the drives can be used for other things.

What happens when PS2's start getting counted as DVD players?

Big stories about Blu-ray adoption suddenly slowing to less then half of what DVD adoption did. (Though DVD was already firmly settled and popular by the time it came out.
