Price cuts are always a good thing for the consumers. Consumers do not care whether it means a loss of money to a greedy corporation.

A $50 price cut in America would be a great thing but PS3 prices would remain the same in Europe they have to subsidise the american price cuts. The american economy is going terribly at the moment with the sub prime mortgages, recession looming and the ongoing war in Iraq.

A looming recession? If you look at GDP, it actually grew at a faster rate in the 2nd qaurter of 08 thant it did in the 4th quarter of 07 and the 1st quarter of 08. Also, oil prices are dropping due to worries of decreased demand. This should alleviate some fears people have of rising inflation. Not to mention that U.S. factory orders jumped at the fastest pace in six months in June. Am I predicting a boom? No, but there is no looming recession.

On the topic of a PS3 price drop...I highly doubt it. Sony's CFO Nobuyuki Oneda has told investors that they do not plan on dropping the price of the PS3. I would expect a bundle of sorts to be the more likely outcome.
