>in order to slow Sony's momentum.

what momentum are we talking about here???

Reducing a 7.5 million lead down to a 5.5 million lead in under a year. 2 million more PS3's have sold over the past 40 weeks worldwide than X360.

It makes sense to strengthen your market in your strongest market in the US over your competitor.

Didn't the 360 have a 5.5mil lead when the PS3 launched?

Edit: According to this chart the 360 was at about 5.3mil when the Ps3 launched so in reality Sony hasn't really gained any ground at all. Unless you mean relative to when they were struggling badly last year. If so then yes they gained some ground but they really haven't passed the launch margin.

I am talking about when the gap between the X360 and PS3 was at its highest point. I said over the past 40 weeks reduced the gap from 7.5 million down to a 5.5 million. An average of the PS3 outselling X360 by 50 000 consoles per week for 40 weeks. 50000 *40 = 2 million.
