But PS3 does exist, is here, is pushing BR well and and "gamers" are buying Blu-Ray discs.

Other BR players don't sell well because the PS3 exists.

2009 and 2010 will see steadily increasing adoption, and in 2011 more Blu-Ray dscs will be sold than DVDs. In part because the studios will force it, a la Warner ditching HD-DVD to make sure only Blu-Ray is available by the Christmas season. Thank you, Warner Bros.

I disagree. This can be seen by the fact that Blu-ray Disc sales are pathetically low at this point compared to DVD.

Not contradicting you, but just asking because I haven't seen the stat: can you post a link with the relevant statistics?

It can't be number of discs divided by number of Blu-Ray players, because of course a number of gamer kids didn't buy the PS3 to watch Blu-Ray.  We need number of Blu-Ray discs sold divided by years on the market, vs DVD over same period.

And as DVD is an undisputed success, Blu-Ray sales would have to indeed be pathetically low to be considered any kind of failure...simply being behind DVD at the same period is no kind of objection, especially since HD-DVD was launched first -- and backed by Microsoft -- before being buried by Blu-Ray.
