There's no reason why multiple formats can't be supported. Best Buy and other big retailers were more than happy to expand shelf space because they make more per disc than DVD.

Laser Disc went for a long time, Bluray already has more users and revenue.

That was my point, it wasn't in a game system, sold less and lasted a long time.

The article says that gamers don't buy less movies so there you go.
