In any case, one thing's for sure - overall, they're losing money on hardware. Sony's CFO says so very clearly in all of their latest financial conferences.

 

i would assume the loss on hardware is for the japanese or american version of ps3, which is the cheapest and second cheapest respectively.  the consoles in europe may well be making a profit.
