I think that Moore is more of an "intellectual" writer and Miller is more of a "rebellious" one. A lot of the messages that Miller passes are mysoginistic and very much towards "society is completely corrupt and we have to rise up and fight it".
But I find his take on Batman (the psychology) and Daredevil (in Born Again) amazing. And since his body of work is more accessible to people (like me), I choose Miller.
P.S. - The first time I read Watchmen I thought that the castaway story in the comic the kid is reading was so boring that I just skipped through it. I just couldn´t grasp what he was trying to say with it. I wasn´t mature enough. I always tell myself to read it again but it´s one of those things you just keep putting off.
