Of course it's friendlier to work with right off the bat... So is an iPod menu, which is more closely related to XMB than Carbon, the GUI for OS X.
When you're talking about 100 options vs. 10,000 options, yeah, it's going to be more "user friendly".
Still, I don't see the point.
