It will be interesting to see what happens anyway. If nothing else, the numbers should move back up to where they were before the announcement was made, pending supply levels. Of course, it would have happened anyway along with the consumer cycle shift.
It probably wasn't any coincidence that PS3 sales dropped after the announcement to upgrade the 40GB SKU was made. The diminishing 40GB stock didn't exactly help either.
