I haven't played the Genesis one yet, but I've read/heard several articles/people saying the Genesis one was completely different, and most of them agreed it was better.
However, I played the SNES one and it's amazing. Such a kickass game.
It's actually based on a pen and paper RPG and the works of William Gibson.... who wrote the story that inspired Johnny Mnemonic. I had to look all this up, since the game came out way before the movie, and I thought the movie was a blatant ripoff.
But yeah, I was jacking into the Matrix back in 1993, before anybody even knew it existed.
