You people swearing by Sony and their 10 year cycle, need to stop drinking the Kool Aid and wake-up and stop with all the delusions.
Remember you're talking about a company who's numerous execs have many gaffes between them including but not limited to:
"Rumble in controllers is last-gen tech." and then eventually implemented it.
"Multiple SKUs are confusing" and then introduced 3 in the same year.
and that's just the stuff off the top of my head that I can remember.
A previous poster nailed it. Consumers determine the life cycle of a product, not the corporate execs. If you really think 10 years from now when the next generation of systems are out, that the PS3 will be selling like the PS2 or even a fraction of the PS2 then you need to join us down here on planet earth.
While I'm not saying that it CAN NOT HAPPEN I seriously highly dobut it. Sure it will still be selling and games may be coming out for it. But I highly doubt it will be on par with the what the PS2 is doing now. If anything out of all the systems out now Wii has the best chance of still making a pretty penny 7-8 years from now. BUt that's just being obvious.
