PS2 has the same "10 year cycle" 10 year cycle just means "we hope it will still sell when our replacement comes out."
Note how they talk about how PS1 had a 10 year cycle and PS2 will as well.
The NES had like a 20 year lifecycle as it wasn't unsupported by Nintendo until 2003.
