Well, I guess one gets what one pays for when it comes to public remarks from corporate executives.
How much did we pay for those remarks? Oh, yeah. They're free. 
I don't give much credibility to statements from the big three when it comes to this sort of thing. Now a completely independent 3rd party (not someone paid to do a "study" or a games publisher with a vested interest) saying something like this would be noteworthy.
