I think a lot of people that buy $199 systems don't even know or care if the system comes with a HDD....even if they do care about some sort of storage, it comes with a 256MB memory card.
I guess the potential customers for that price aren't the kind that go looking for HDMI port, HDD, etc....playing games for a cheap price is enough for them.
