Sansui said: I had two PS2's die on me, but I was ok with getting them replaced under warranty because 1.) I loved my ps2 and 2.) I had a great game library available to me. I got real lucky on the second death, since it was just 2 or 3 days before my extended warranty was about to lapse.
I had to play my launch PS1 upside down for many of the final months of its life. Same with my dreamcast (which to be fair was knocked over by a cat, but still played afterward if it was upside down). I didn't even get the ps1 replaced by warranty, it was well expired by then.. had to just buy a new one.
My 360 has not RRoD'd on me, but if it does, no big deal. Three year coverage + the other extended warranty I have means I really have nothing to worry about other than losing my game console for two weeks.
I've never abandoned any of my other consoles because they broke on me, not sure why I'd start with the 360, especially considering it has the better game library this gen.
My question to the OP is.... why are you so fickle about the whether your console breaks or not? If you happened to be the unlucky soul whose ps3 broke twice, would you abandon your ps3? If you answered no, then you should rethink posing this question to others :P |
Haven't had any trouble with my PS3. If the shoe was on the other foot and Sony had hardware issues, I'd have avoided the PS3. Several people have said basically, "So what if you lose your console for a few weeks?" That's just ridiculous. People have been way too quick to forgive MS for this fiasco. I spend several hundred dollars on something, it should work and I shouldn't be OK with it if it doesn't.

So if your car just dies on you a few times you give up on it? Granted that there are many ways for your car to die on you, lets say the first is battery, then radiator, then transmission. Are you going to give up on that? I sure as hell wouldn't.

It's not the same :P A 360 dies for the same reason: Overheating, not like a car that does for multiple reasons
Also, a car can be what? $20k-$80k? You can't just give up on something like that :)
Besides, you can get a superior console (as in hardware...blu-ray alone could be considered) for not much of a difference in price
But yeah, we still have the game library issue...but that has more to do with tastes
