I want 2-D even on consoles. NOT 3-D. Some games just don't work as well in 3-D and Castlevania proves it. As much as I love Mario 64, I hate that it made every single older franchise think that it could be better in 3-D.

Super Mario 64 and FFVII benefitted from being in 3D.  Castlevania could make a good 3D installment,  It's just a matter of improving the level designs and such

 

Yeah SM64 benefits alot from 3D ( IMO it was the milestone where begin the 3D era ) but it was different from SMB and the other 2d Marios.

FF7 hadn't 3D excpet for the battle however I agree that the "cinematic" presentation of the whole adventure was the real turning point of that episode ( not the story, the gameplay or the character design ).
