Blu-ray will be a failure in the end--watch. It may be a good format with superb, 1080p and 7.1 surround sound quality which many people like, but its limited in appeal to video and audiophiles. Many use Netflix, Veoh, torrents, and others, By 2011 IPTV will be a mainstream staple and quite possibly, HVD (Holographic Video Disc) will replace BD media as "the" common or competing format. (Most likely competing).

You know Nintendo has the joint patent on the HVD right? O man that would be some shit to see the look on Sonys face if Nintendo stole their "Next gen format" right out from under neath their feet. Anyway... I dont see BR becoming the next big format. Its just simple sience, if you look back every video format has looked totally different from the last. Music storage included. No one is going to buy there old movies over again to watch them on anouther disk format no matter how much work is put into them to upgrade the quality, new stuff maybe but never old. You put HVD out there and the right marketing and boom the public will lunge for that new format. Just anouther disk format winning naaa cant picture it.
