Also in my professional opinion (working in software development) giving a percentage completed to any project is subjective at best =).

You don't include the engine when you're looking at the completeness of a game. Generally, every task and milestone is put into a Gantt chart and it only takes looking at a single field to see how complete the game is (assuming they're using MS Project or something similar which they are).

They aren't the same (I've worked in both now ) and as I said earlier, the 13% isn't likely subjective at all.

I see what you're saying Twesterm, but the reason I say any percentage estimate, in my opinion that is, is subjective at best is because its very rare to know every task and milestone ahead of time.  So right this second, their task tracking software (whatever it might be) could say 13% complete, but 6 months from now, they could have added 25-50% more tasks, meaning the percentages would be different subjective to the number of tasks and time alloted for each one.

Now, its quite possible that after making so many games, they might have the task list down pat and then the percentages would be less subjective, but I have no way of knowing that, and I don't think anyone else save maybe the managers in charge would.

Anyway, I'd still take these with a grain of salt, assuming they aren't just rumors or a joke.  If they are serious about them, it is still relative to the present, and not necessarily indicative of what it will look like in 2008.
