You can't really argue that either has better games just that the have more games that cater to different people.
If you like action, adventure, platforming, shooters go with the PSP, with it's button/nub layout it's the perfect match.
If you like games that aren't action but turned based, puzzle, point and click, fashion designer/pet owner/chef/waitress/surgeon simulators, Sega CDesque games where you pretend you in court watching FMV-like videos etc. Go DS, the touch screen and stylus are the perfect match.

Don't forget to read my post. I've tried the DS first hand(when stretching your thumb 4" to the centre of the handheld doing motions that dried up my thumb grease after 15 minutes on a screen that has subpar responsiveness for anything action related) with high expectations that I almost knew I wouldn't disapointed in. What I got was a gimmick touch screen that did nothing but ruin most action, adventure, shooter, platformers. I sold it and definately going PSP in 2-3 weeks, the videos, pictures and music are great but mainly for the games.

Don't look at hardware sales and just go with a DS because "it must be better for me".  I work selling these things and %70 are under 12 that want to play Dogz or Catz or Nintendogs or casual adults that want to play lawyer and surgeon simulator games.

Firstly the control method is fine, and you are overexaggerating it. It is very easy to get use to. Secondly there are plenty of Action, Action-Adventures, MUCH MORE platformers on the ds. First Person SHooters are better on the psp, but 2s shooters are better on the ds.

Action & Action-Adventure games on the ds.

Contra 4

The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass

Castlevania:Dawn of Sorrow

Ninja Gaiden:Dragon Sword

Metal Slug 7

Mega Man ZX

Dragon Quest Heroes:Rocket Slime

Castlevania:Portrait of Ruin

 Shooters

Bangai-O Spirits

Geometry Wars Galaxies

Space Invaders Extreme

Glory Days 2

Nanostray 2

Metroid Prime Hunters

Platformers

New Super Mario Bros

Kirby:Canvas Curse

Sonic Rush Adventures

Yoshi Island 2

Exit Ds

Kirby Super Ultra Deluxe

Sonic Rush

Donkey Kong Jungle Climber

Kirby Squeak Squad

Super Princess Peach

Those are just a few of each genre you mentioned.

Also the DS is has many more quality Rpgs, and I would say a little more Strategy games.

Also the Ds even has genres that are pretty much nonexistant on the PSP like Adventure games, and Puzzle games.

There are Genres like Racing, Sports, and Fps/TPS that the ds has more of.
