The only option is your TV zoom. And, the only reason that the DVD's can be full screen are cause of the PS3 upscalling. Also to note, u will have a better picture without zoom activated.
On another topic, me and my mate tested to see which of the 2 HD consoles had a better DVD upscaler and picture. We both have a PS3 and 360 each and he clamed the 360 did. So, we went to test this out on our 2 Bravia LCD's with the same settings, DVD and cables.
Very interesting comparrison. we found that the 360's colour was much more vibrant, but so much so that it bled and looked unatural, [good for animation].
The PS3's DVD player had much more natural colour, sharper and clearer picture too with a little less noise.
So, now I only watch my DVD's and all my films on my PS3.
